The RELEASE=YES in ghc-8.8 branch, though it's moved from the release commit

# Set this to YES for a released version, otherwise NO
: ${RELEASE=YES}

As far as I understand this breaks building snapshots from the 8.8 branch now (EDIT: which have advanced past ghc-8.8.2 tag)
