Installing on Solaris 5.6

I can't install ghc 5.02.1 on Solaris 5.6.
If I try the binary package I get no complaints,
but when I type ghc --version I get:

ld.so.1: /home/kort/pkgs/ghc/lib/ghc-5.02.1/ghc-5.02.1:
fatal: libcurses.so.1: open failed: No such file or
directory

If I try the sources tar -xf ghc-5.02.1-src-1.tar 
fails with: tar: directory checksum error.
