Validating on a PPC Mac OS X: Fix 2 errors and a warning
Validating a recent HEAD with

I should stress that validate for PPC Mac OS X still doesn't succeed: For the PPC Mac, we are stuck at #3260 (closed). But the patches do not affect the result of a validate on an Intel Mac.
