GHC 4.08.1 with RH7.0/GCC2.96

I just tried GHC 4.08.1 (my rpm to be precise) on the new RedHat 7.0.  The NCG works fine, but I got a problem with the C route, which gives me

  Prologue junk?: .globl __init_Common
  __init_Common:
            subl	$12, %esp

RH7.0 comes with GCC 2.96.  Can this problem be caused by a change in GCC's code generation?

PS: I didn't recompile GHC for RH7.0, but this shouldn't cause a bug like this, I think.
