Due to a large amount of spam we do not allow new users to create repositories, they are "external" users. If you are a new user and want to create a repository, for example for forking GHC, open a new issue on ghc/ghc using the "get-verified" issue template

hadrian/build does not check required cabal version
<!-- READ THIS FIRST: If the feature you are proposing changes the language that GHC accepts or adds any warnings to `-Wall`, it should be written as a [GHC Proposal](https://github.com/ghc-proposals/ghc-proposals/). Other features, appropriate for a GitLab feature request, include GHC API/plugin innovations, new low-impact compiler flags, or other similar additions to GHC. --> ## Motivation ```console $ cabal --version cabal-install version 3.10.3.0 compiled using version 3.10.3.0 of the Cabal library $ ./hadrian/build $ echo $? 1 ``` Here, `./hadrian/build` silently fails because stderr is discarded at https://gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/ghc/-/blob/f4e04210f8233e912d8c077e95442db40c8e24a6/hadrian/build-cabal#L31 ```console $ cabal --with-compiler=ghc path --output-format=key-value Error: cabal: unrecognised command: path (try --help) Maybe you meant `fetch`? ``` ## Proposal It seems that `cabal path` is introduced in 3.12; therefore ```console $ ./hadrian/build Cabal version is too old; you need at least cabal-install 3.12 ```
