GHC 9.6.4 is shipped with deprecated filepath

GHC 9.6.4 is shipped with "filepath" 1.4.200.1 which is deprecated according to Hackage. This results in a dependency hell. GHC 9.6.5 should provide "filepath" 1.4.300.1.

@trac-kazu-yamamoto, @wz1000 has bumped filepath in GHC 9.6.5.

However, it would be helpful to know concretely what is the dependency hell in particular? Were you seeing solver failures or something else entirely? If there are problems posed by deprecation of boot packages then we should try to address the root cause.

I'm using cabal v1-commands.

1. The packages provided GHC 9.6.4 depends on filepath 1.4.200.1.
2. If we install other packages depends on filepath, 1.4.300.1 is installed.

Linking both packages of 1. and 2., the inconsistency happens.

That doesn't sound right. Why does cabal attempt to link to two different versions? A build plan shouldn't contain two versions of the same.

This sounds like a cabal bug.

This was fixed for %9.6.5

This should be also resolved in GHC 9.8.3.

It is a shame that this was not re-milestoned for %9.8.3 as this issue persists in ghc-9.8.
