Please, interested to get an input on reasons why 9.0 so far not is not recommended

Currently doing work in HLS & noticed that HLS has trouble update everything (all plugins) to 9.0. 9.2 there is still in the works.

What currently holds recommended back? Is it HLS plugins support, & are there other such things to switch to new version as recommended.
