GHC 7.10.3 does not install on recent linux distribution

Summary

When trying to install GHC 7.10.3 via ghcup on Ubuntu 21.10 it fails with a segmentation fault (!). @maerwald has confirmed the behaviour. According to him this is an issue with GHC which should be reported here. See haskell/ghcup-hs#280 (comment 395798)

Steps to reproduce

open terminal (on Ubuntu 21.10 -- however possibly generic problem)
$ ghcup install ghc 7.10.3
=> install fails with segmentation fault

Expected behavior

GHC is installed.

Environment

GHC version used: 7.10.3
Ubuntu 21.10

Optional:

Operating System: Ubuntu 21.10
System Architecture: Intel 64-bit
