ghc-toolchain doesn't perform target canonicalisation

The ./configure script performs target canonicalisation using the config.guess script (indirectly). ghc-toolchain doesn't attempt to do this.

I am not sure what to do here, is there a way to call ./config.guess ourselves to perform canonicalisation from ghc-toolchain?
