User's guide says GHC is quiet, but it's not
The Getting started section of the user's guide says
By default GHC will be very quiet about what it is doing, only printing error messages. If you want to see in more detail what’s going on behind the scenes, add
-v
to the command line.
But it certainly prints more than error messages. If I compile the sample hello.hs
from that section I get
% ghc-9.8.1 hello.hs
[1 of 2] Compiling Main ( hello.hs, hello.o )
[2 of 2] Linking hello
This is not a critical issue, but it would be nice if the user's guide reflected reality more closely.
